Spiritual Combined Arms Tactics

8 Then Amalek came and fought with Israel at Rephidim. 9 So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose for us men, and go out and fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with  the staff of God in my hand.” 10 So Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought with Amalek, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12But Moses' hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 And Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the sword.
14 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write this as a memorial in a book and recite it in the ears of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.” 15 And Moses built an altar and called the name of it, The LORD Is My Banner....            Ex 17:8-16

In the army we learned that Infantry by themselves are not very effective weapons.  But when the you combine Air Force for Bombing, Artillery for Softening the Landing Zone, Helicopter to transport troops quickly, Helicopters for overhead cover, C-130 Gunships for support, and infantry to hold the groud - this is a very effective team....A combined arms package that is hard to beat.

So in this example God is using Combined arms to accomplish his mission.  Joshua is physically swing the swords and gets credit for winning the battle.  Moses is lifting up the Rod of God (Praying) for as the battle rages.  When Moses gets tired, Aaron and Hur take up the battle buddy Job of helping Moses stay the course.  And God shows up to provide all that is needed to win the day!

At the end of it as Joshua is given credit for winning the battle, but is reminded that God did all the work.  God gets all the Glory - the Lord is our Banner, for he will not share his glory with another.

And Moses aaron and Hur all get a ring side seat, a behind the scene look at how God works...All 4 aspects of this team are needed, and must be intact for the battle to be won.

So today we must labor with all our strength in the harvest field.  We must also pray and beg God to work wonders in the lives of individuals.  And God must show up to do all the work that we are hoping to see accomplished.  But at the end of the day...All the credit Goes to Jehova Jirah - The great provider, who though he wants us to labor with him, does not in any way need us to do the work...

God use us greatly to do the works of your service, to do greater works than even your son did, and may we always give you all the glory...

The Lord God is our Banner!
